How to: Lace up a Wedding Dress

There are a million things a bride needs to think about before her special day;

Flowers? Check
Reception? Check
Groomsmen’s suits? Check

Often, learning (or figuring out) how to lace up your wedding dress is so far down the list of important things to remember, it’s forgotton.

Here is a very simple guide on how to do it, so that the panic button isn’t hit the morning of the wedding

1. Put the dress on the bride

2. Adjust the dress so it’s sitting in the correct position on the brides body

3. Make sure the modesty panel (if there is one) is sitting neatly (don’t clip it on both sides as it will buckle when dress is pulled tight)

4. Use a ribbon or a shoelace as a ’waist tie’ to hold the dress in place halfway down the lace-up (depending on the dress about 6-7 loops from the bottom)

5 . Ensure that the ribbon is centered (so that you don’t run out of ribbon half-way through)

6. Start lacing from the top down. Alternate loops with the ribbon so that the ribbon criss-crosses across the back of the gown

7. Lace-up to the waist tie from step 3

8. Pull tight each loop

9. Finish lacing the rest of the gown

10. Starting from the top, pull tight each loop and work your way down to the bottom of the gown

11. When the dress has been tightened all the way down – you have two options

Option 1: Tie ribbon in a knot and tuck it down the back of the gown

Option 2: Or, tie ribbin in a bow (you can cut off the excess ribbon so that it doesnt drag on the ground)

12. Enjoy getting ready stress free!

Melissa’s Wedding

Her wedding was filmed by Motion Art who kindly shared the video with us.

Melissa wore a stunning designer wedding dress by Mia Solano, which she bought from our Brisbane store in January. Below is an image of the gown from our Luv Bridal website.

Gold Coast Weddings – Summertime

Summer is always a great time to have a wedding. Every day brings beautiful sunsets, warm evening breezes and the relaxed atmosphere that every bride wants during her special day.

The Gold Coast has always been a popular destination for weddings, and as some of you might know Luv Bridal has just opened a new store with designer wedding dresses on the Gold Coast! The new store boasts two levels of bridal bliss – gowns for the bride, her maids and of course accessories such as veils and tiaras.

Over the last few months we’ve been really busy fitting brides for their summertime weddings. Chiffon gowns are always a popular style as they look great on all shapes and sizes. They also have a lovely soft silhouette which suits all kinds of weddings, whether it’s at the beach, in a garden or on a golf course (all of which can be found on the Gold Coast).

Earlier in the year, Getaway presenter Natalie Gruzlewski got married in Burleigh Heads. Of all the locations that Natalie has traveled to, she chose to be wed in Burleigh – must be a pretty special place! Here are some pics of her;

Bridesmaids Gowns

The colour of this dress is Ocean Blue – a beautiful fresh colour which would compliment either a diamond white or white bridal gown.

Reception Dress

The reception dress is becoming more and more popular. E1102 is an Envi Prom gown which has been used as a reception dress for one of our lovely brides. She wanted something to change into after the formalities were over and was definitely more comfortable in this halter dress.
